Orlando and Washington split points in a 1-1 draw at Audi Field on Sunday.
The Spirit out-shot the Pride 21-9, but Orlando’s defense kept the game scoreless until the second half.
Ashlyn Harris came up clutch for the Pride, making several improbable saves to deny Washington the lead. In the 26th minute, Harris made a diving save to bat away a redirected set piece from Ashley Sanchez. The 35-year-old faced 12 shots total and finished with five saves.
The match’s first goal came in the 64th minute, when Kelley O’Hara launched a lofted cross into the box that Ashley Hatch headed into the back of the net. The goal was Hatch’s third of the season.
Orlando equalized less than five minutes later, pouncing on a defensive error by Aubrey Bledsoe. Taylor Kornieck got on the end of it, sending the ball into the far post to even the score.
The 1-1 tie preserves Orlando’s unbeaten status in five regular-season games. The Spirit remain in the upper third of the standings after Sunday’s draw with a 2-1-2 regular-season record.
Following the international break, the Spirit will go on the road to face the Red Stars in Chicago on June 19. The Pride will look to maintain their unbeaten streak when they host Gotham FC in Orlando on June 20.
