Assistant captain and forward Blayre Turnbull went down on the ice in the celebration, having to be pulled out of the dog pile and helped off the ice.

Rather than going to the hospital, Turnbull later returned — this time on a stretcher — to celebrate the gold medal with her team.

In the video, Turnbull can be seen saying that her “ankle really snapped.” That diagnosis was later confirmed, with sources saying that the 28-year-old suffered a broken fibula during the celebration.
As it was a clean break, Turnbull could be back skating in as little as 6-8 weeks. The 2022 Winter Olympics are set to begin Feb. 4.
