Great Britain and Team Canada faced off in their third and final group stage game on Tuesday, ending in a 1-1 draw.

Both teams have advanced to the knockout stages in Japan, with Team GB topping Group E by avoiding defeat against Canada.

It was Canada who dominated the midfield early, and after some sloppy GB defending, West Ham forward Adriana Leon’s 55th-minute opener put the Canadians on the scoreboard.

While Ellen White had several chances, it was Caroline Weir’s left-footed shot that gave Great Britain the equalizer late in the game.

Wier’s snipe was a bouncing long-range shot that appeared to take a slight deflection past Canadian goalkeeper Stephanie Labbé.

Andy Murray, who reached the men’s doubles quarter-finals at the Tokyo Olympics earlier with partner Joe Salisbury, tweeted during the match after Weir sunk her strike.

GB is set to face Group G’s third-place finisher Australia in the quarter-finals on Friday. Canada will play Brazil.
