What you'll do

The staff editor (SE) is responsible for supporting the managing editor (ME) in the day-to-day operations of the JWS website. The SE will work closely with the ME to build and execute an editorial content calendar while also overseeing the production of feature editorial pieces. The SE will likewise work closely with our network of contract writers to solicit, edit and publish stories.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, manage and work with a network of contract writers
  • Oversee feature pieces, including profiles, interviews, reported analysis and more
  • Help oversee a news editor as well as a team of news writers
  • Help edit and monitor all content posted to justwomenssports.com
  • Write stories for the website as needed
  • Help with copy asks across the company as needed
  • Work with ME to build long-term strategy for website

Who you are

  • At least 2 years of experience working in media or journalism
  • A passion for women’s sports
  • Strong writing, editing and management skills
  • An instinct for what makes a good JWS story
  • Basic knowledge of Klaviyo, WordPress, Airtable is a plus
  • Active on Twitter a plus
  • Being a former athlete a plus
