The Sun advanced to 6-1 with a 86-81 win over the Washington Mystics Friday night.

Jonquel Jones led the charge for Connecticut, recording 20 points and 12 rebounds for her sixth consecutive double-double. Jones has had a monster start to the season after sitting out last year, averaging 20 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.

The Sun shot 50 percent from the floor Friday night, with DeWanna Bonner adding 17 points and 11 rebounds and Jasmine Thomas contributing 19 points and two assists.

The Mystics kept the game close, leading 47-44 at halftime and going on a 13-0 run in the third quarter.

Tina Charles led Washington — and continued to make her early case for WNBA MVP — with 29 points. Friday marked her fifth consecutive game of scoring 20 points or more.

Despite the Mystics’ best efforts, Connecticut started the fourth quarter on a 8-2 run and put the game out of reach.

Washington (2-4) will head home to face the Las Vegas Aces on June 5. The Sun have a tight turnaround, going on the road to face the Lynx on Sunday.
