
No. 8 LSU locked up the No. 2 seed in the SEC tournament with a win over No. 16 Tennessee on Sunday.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead and went into halftime up 36-22 on the Vols. Tennessee nearly fought back late, going on an 18-6 run in the fourth quarter, but LSU held on for the 57-54 win.
Jailin Cherry led the charge for LSU, notching 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Khayla Pointer added 12 points, 14 rebounds and five assists, while Autumn Newby contributed 12 points and nine rebounds.

LSU shot 37.9 percent from the field compared to the Vols’ 31.3 percent and grabbed 47 rebounds to Tennessee’s 42.
The Tigers closed out the regular season 13-3 in conference play and 25-4 overall, giving them their most wins since 2007-08 in Kim Mulkey’s first season as head coach. LSU heads into the SEC tournament this week as the second seed behind No. 1 South Carolina.
The game was the most-watched regular-season matchup since 2017.
She also has started every game this season for undefeated LSU.
Copper is the team's only returning starter in 2023.
