Sundayâs loss marks a frustrating end to an injury-plagued season for the Mystics. The team was forced to play most of the season without Elena Delle Donne and lost Tina Charles, Natasha Cloud, and Myisha Hines-Allen for stretches throughout the year.
Charles still managed to lead the league in points per game with 23.7, fighting to put a limited Mystics into the playoffs despite the difficult season.
Washingtonâs loss means the Los Angeles Sparks could clinch the final playoff spot with a win in their Sunday matchup against the Wings. A loss would send the New York Liberty to the postseason.
