Francie Gottsegen has been named president of the North Carolina Football Club, where he’ll lead business operations and revenue generation for the North Carolina Courage.

“I’m thrilled to join the North Carolina Football Club and lead the growth of this best-in-class organization,” Gottsegen said. “It is an honor to guide the club’s front office in elevating the experience for our players, fans and partners. I’m also looking forward to further strengthening the club ties to our community and to our successes ahead.”

Curt Johnson will transition into the role of Chief Soccer Officer as Joanna Holder has been named the club’s Chief People Officer.

Gottsegen brings a wealth of experience to the position, most recently serving as CEO of Sports Systems, a TicketManager Company. Additionally, the Duke University alumna has spent time as the Senior VP of Sports and Entertainment Marketing at JP Morgan Chase. She’s also worked with PGA of America, the NBA and MLS.

While leading business operations and revenue generation, Gottsegen will also lead front office operations. She’ll focus specifically on marketing, communications, broadcasting and human resources.

In his new role, Johnson will focus on overseeing the technical and team side of the club. He will continue to serve on the NWSL Board of Governors.

“This is a great day for the club,” Johnson said. “I am thrilled to welcome Francie and Joanna, and I look forward to working alongside them. The addition of two talented senior leaders is something Steve and I have been working on for a few years. Personally, I’ll now be able to spend more time focused on working directly with our players and coaches, while also serving on the NWSL and USL Boards. I want to thank Steve for again providing us with the resources that will help us reach the full potential of the club.”

The Courage have been particularly active this offseason, trading away Sam Mewis and Lynn Williams. They recently added Brazilian forward Kerolin to the roster.

NWSL preseason begins on Feb. 1.
