The Phoenix Mercury clinched the fifth seed in the WNBA playoffs, securing a Round 1 single-elimination game at home. The Sept. 23 win or go home contest, however, won’t be played at the Footprint Center, the team’s typical home stadium, “due to a scheduling conflict.”
According to the Footprint Center’s events calendar, the musician Maluma will be playing the venue on Thursday, Sept. 23, forcing the Mercury to play at GCU Arena on the campus of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
The Mercury will face off against the yet-to-be-determined 8th seed in the team’s franchise-record ninth consecutive playoff appearance.
