Tour de France to feature women’s race in 2022
The race will start on July 24, 2022.
Simone Biles makes it look easy.
The 24-year-old gymnastics superstar continued her unprecedented elite level run, winning her record seventh U.S. Gymnastics Championships title Sunday night.
To put that into perspective, Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson only ever won two U.S. titles apiece.
She finished with a final score of 119.650, nearly five points ahead of second-place finisher Sunisa Lee, who finished with a score of 114.950. Additionally, her all-around score on Sunday of 60.100 was her highest since 2018 – suggesting that Biles is peaking at the right time heading into Tokyo.
While the Yurchenko Double Pike did not make an appearance, Biles wasn’t without some tricks up her sleeve, including a new move she debuted in her floor routine on the final day.
The most decorated American gymnast ever with 30 combined Olympic and World championship medals, Biles has not lost an all-around competition since 2013. Whereas most gymnasts compete at an elite level for two to five years, Biles has been doing it for almost a decade. She trails just Belarus’ Vitaly Scherbo (33 medals) and Russia’s Larisa Latynina (32 medals) for most all time.
