The Connecticut Sun incurred their first loss of the season Tuesday night, falling to the Storm in overtime 90-87.

Sue Bird led Seattle in scoring with 21 points.

Jewell Loyd was essential for the Storm, as well, recording 19 points and eight rebounds. Loyd is currently fifth in the WNBA in points per game, averaging 21.2 points on 47 percent shooting through five games.

Breanna Stewart added a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds, continuing her dominance after making WNBA history over the weekend.

Connecticut came within three of Seattle on a 3-point shot from Jonquel Jones with 1:10 remaining in overtime, but a late turnover cost the Sun as the Storm held on.

Despite the loss, Jones amplified early MVP chatter, recording her fifth consecutive double-double with 28 points and 13 rebounds. Averaging 20 points per game, Jones is shooting 54.8 percent from the field and 44.8 percent from 3 in Connecticut’s six games this season.

The Storm improved to 4-1 heading into their game Friday night against the 0-3 Minnesota Lynx. Connecticut, now 5-1, will host the 2-3 Mystics on Friday.
