The NWSL Championship is on its way back West, with the league announcing on Friday morning that the 2025 title match will kick off from PayPal Park in San Jose, California.
Hosted at the home pitch of 2024 expansion team Bay FC, the game will take place on Saturday, November 22nd.
In addition to the championship match, the 2025 NWSL season's final weekend will include a variety of supporting events like Fan Fest and the annual Skills Challenge competition.
"We're thrilled to bring the NWSL Championship back to the West Coast and to a region with as rich a history in women's soccer as the Bay Area," said NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman in a league statement.
Citing a long list of former USWNT stars with local ties, including Julie Foudy, Kelley O'Hara, and Alex Morgan, Bay FC co-founder Brandi Chastain — a US legend herself — called the Bay Area "the place women's soccer calls home."
"Our community's fabric is woven with the greatest the game has to offer," explained Chastain.
"This community's passion for the game, combined with the excitement surrounding one of our newest teams in Bay FC, makes it the perfect setting to celebrate the league's top talent and crown our next champion," said Berman.
How to attend and watch the 2025 NWSL Championship
Like last year, the 2025 NWSL Championship will air in primetime, with CBS set to broadcast the match live at 8 PM ET on November 22nd.
Tickets to the game will be available for purchase beginning in August, though interested fans can sign up for presale access online now.
Hoping to flip the script on their 2025 WNBA season, the Chicago Sky will take on the Indiana Fever for the second time this year in a history-making primetime CBS matchup on Saturday.
Looking to avenge their 35-point season-opening loss to Indiana, the Sky will host the Fever in Chicago's famed United Center for the first time in WNBA history.
As for the Fever, they'll aim for a second Sky defeat without star guard Caitlin Clark, who is still day-to-day with a quad injury.
With the bulk of the league chasing just five teams currently sitting above .500 in the early standings, the Sky aren't the only WNBA team looking to make up ground this weekend:
- LA Sparks vs. Dallas Wings, Friday at 9:30 PM ET (ION): Both young squads will look to snap a three-game losing streak and steal some positive momentum on Friday night — though the Wings will have to do so without 2025 No. 1 draft pick Paige Bueckers, who is still in concussion protocol.
- Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky, Saturday at 8 PM ET (CBS): On a two-game winning streak, the Sky have a chance to even the score against the Fever — and do so in the arena that Michael Jordan made famous.
- Seattle Storm vs. Phoenix Mercury, Saturday at 10 PM ET (WNBA League Pass): The 4-4 Storm will attempt to make a statement against a Mercury side that is still finding ways to win, despite a number of sidelined stars.
Though early top performers are leading the 2025 WNBA season charge, there's a lot of room in the middle of the standings for teams to make a statement.
South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley will be taking her talents to CBS Sports, with the network announcing Wednesday that the basketball legend will headline a new WNBA pregame show premiering this weekend.
Hosted by sports reporter Sarah Kustok, WNBA Tip Off will feature both the decorated South Carolina boss and fellow former WNBA star Renee Montgomery as analysts.
In addition to her lengthy playing and coaching resume, Staley will bring specific insight into particular athletes during these broadcasts, with nine of the icon's former players — from reigning three-time MVP A'ja Wilson to 2023 Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston — competing in the WNBA this season.
Staley's involvement also spotlights CBS's commitment to live WNBA broadcasts, with the network scheduling WNBA Tip Off slots for four of the network's eight regular-season league games.
WNBA Tip Off will debut at 7:30 PM ET this Saturday, serving as the lead-in to the Sky's primetime matchup against regional rival Indiana Fever — the first WNBA game ever set inside Chicago's United Center and the first-ever primetime WNBA regular-season game on broadcast television.
The other three games featuring Staley and her new CBS pre-game crew will be the July 12th clash between 2025 expansion side Golden State Valkyries and the Las Vegas Aces, a second Fever vs. Sky matchup on August 9th, and a 2024 WNBA Finals rematch between the reigning champion New York Liberty and runners-up Minnesota Lynx on August 16th.
CBS is bringing UEFA Champions League (UWCL) action to the US next season, with the network announcing Saturday that it has acquired the European Championship tournament's exclusive broadcast rights through the 2029/30 campaign.
Ending with English side Arsenal lifting their first UWCL trophy in 18 years, last weekend's Champion's League final was the competition's last match in its a four-year international media deal with streamer DAZN.
Starting next season, however, CBS will air all 75 Champions League matches live across Paramount+, CBS Sports Network, and the CBS Sports Golazo Network.
"CBS Sports is proud to be the home of all women's and men's UEFA club competitions through the end of the decade," said CBS Sports' EVP of programming Dan Weinberg.
Further aligning with the men's tournament, the post-qualifiers Champions League competition will grow from 16 to 18 teams in 2025/26, while also transitioning from a group stage play-in to a single-league standings format.
