Virginia Tech took down No. 16 Duke 65-54 on Thursday, completing the season sweep after the Hokies also knocked off the Blue Devils on Dec. 30.

It’s Virginia Tech’s first season sweep of Duke in program history.

The win also marked head coach Kenny Brooks’ 450th win in his career.

The Hokies are now 4-1 in the ACC, the best five-game start in conference play since Virginia Tech joined the conference in 2004.

Without starting guards Celeste Taylor and Lexi Gordon, the Blue Devils were up 32-25 at halftime. But they went cold in the second half, shooting 26.9 percent.

The Hokies shot 42.22 percent in the second half, including 21 points in the third quarter, to come back from seven points down and leave Durham with a win.

Elizabeth Kitley had a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Hokies, marking her sixth consecutive double-double. She now leads the ACC with nine double-doubles on the season. Aisha Sheppard added 13 points while Azana Baines added 16 rebounds.

Senior Miela Goodchild notched her first double-double for the Blue Devils, scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Louisville transfer Elizabeth Balogun led all Duke scorers with 15 points.

The Blue Devils will look to rebound against No. 4 NC State on Sunday.
