Following a dominant 2024/25 campaign, Chelsea FC will look to cap their historic run by completing a domestic treble on Sunday, when they'll battle Manchester United for a third season trophy in the 2025 FA Cup final.
After securing the 2024/25 League Cup in March amidst an unbeaten run to a sixth-straight WSL title, the Blues will close out their season against the league's third-place finishers, the Red Devils, in London's iconic Wembley Stadium.
Should Chelsea secure the 2025 FA Cup, they will add a second domestic treble to their resume after clinching their first trio of trophies in the 2020/21 season. This time, however, they could do so in undefeated fashion.
"We are in a really good place, just the fact that we won the league being unbeaten," said first-year Blues manager Sonia Bompastor. "To end the season with an FA Cup final at Wembley against Man United is maybe the perfect way to end the season."
Manchester United hunts second straight FA Cup trophy
Standing between Chelsea and the treble are 2024 FA Cup champions Manchester United, who will take aim at their only trophy of the season partly behind the play of 2024/25 WSL Golden Glove winner and USWNT goalkeeper prospect Phallon Tullis-Joyce.
Man United enter as the game's undisputed underdogs, having dropped both their WSL regular-season matches against Chelsea in narrow 1-0 defeats.
Even more, the Red Devils must overcome a particular tough stretch of play, facing more than a month without a victory on their schedule.
Man United's last win was their 2-0 FA Cup semifinal victory over Manchester City on April 13th, with the Red Devils suffering a pair of losses and recording two draws to close out WSL play.
That said, United has experience downing the Blues on the FA Cup stage, ousting Chelsea from last year's semifinals en route to a club-first FA title.
Remarking that Manchester United "are a really strong team," Bompastor pointed out that the Red Devils "don't concede a lot of goals, and we need to remember that."
"You only get the trophy if you win, so we need to make sure going into the game we have the best preparation and we perform on the day."

WSL standouts secure individual 2024/25 awards
Though they missed the WSL's team trophy, the Gunners did claim some individual hardware this weekend, as voters selected midfielder Mariona Caldentey as the inaugural winner of the WSL Player of the Season award.
The 29-year-old Spain international led the league in shot creation, and put up nine goals and five assists on the WSL stat sheet this season.
Caldentey's teammate Alessia Russo also walked away with a trophy, sharing the Golden Boot with fourth-place Manchester City's Khadija "Bunny" Shaw after both forwards scored 12 goals each on the season.
Also sharing a stat-sheet title is Chelsea's Hannah Hampton and Manchester United's Phallon Tullis-Joyce, who claimed the 2024/25 WSL Golden Glove award behind 13 clean sheets apiece.
Meanwhile, the season's WSL Rising Star award went to ninth-place West Ham striker Shekiera Martinez. After spending the first half of the 2024/25 season on loan to Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, the 23-year-old German international notched an astounding 10 goals in her 12 total WSL matches.

Should they go on to lock down the 2025 FA Cup, WSL, and UWCL titles, the Blues will become just the third team to ever win a quartet, joining the 2006/07 Arsenal squad and last season's dominant Barcelona roster.
Chelsea FC listed star striker Sam Kerr on next week’s 25-player Champions League quarterfinal squad, with manager Sonia Bompastor confirming the UK team's roster move on Thursday.
After 15 months off the pitch, the 31-year-old Australia national team captain is nearing the end of a long road back from a January 2024 ACL tear, recently re-joining training sessions with the Blues.
Even so, Bompastor said it will be difficult to predict when Kerr will be able to make an official return to the pitch.
Kerr's inclusion on Chelsea's Champions League team is partially due to UEFA guidelines, which require the competition's quarterfinalists to lock in their rosters for the contest's next three rounds — which won't wrap up until the May 25th final.
Chelsea is banking on Kerr being available sometime before the close of the European tournament, though Bompastor's recent comments seem to be tempering expectations that the attacker will return for this month's quarterfinals.
"Sometimes even if you have high expectations, it doesn’t go the way you want," Bompastor told reporters on Thursday. "If we have positive news and she can bring into the team her experience, but also her competencies, it will be great."
While the WSL-leaders are hopeful to see Kerr on the UWCL pitch, the Australian's inclusion means that Chelsea left USWNT prospect Mia Fishel off of the Champions League roster. The 23-year-old is continuing her own recovery from an ACL tear, which she suffered mere weeks after Kerr's injury.
Ultimately, the Blues are aiming to return both standout players sooner rather than later, with Bompastor focusing on her athletes' individual journeys.
"I just want [Kerr] to feel like the main focus for her will be to work really hard, be the best version of herself," the Chelsea boss said.

As some WSL teams continue to snag top international stars, those seeing departures risk falling by the wayside — putting into question a system that might be inhibiting the league's growth and parity.
"In England, with the women's league, I believe if you gave some owners the opportunity to back out of supporting the women's game, I think they would, simply because I feel like they're all about profit," Arsenal legend and outspoken women's football advocate Ian Wright told The World Economic Forum in Davros this week.
Wright acknowledged that the women's game, which suffered from a near 50-year FA ban, is still "playing catch up on every level, infrastructure, training, coaching and every level of development."
"Because of the past it wasn't allowed to be built up, so we are trying to do that now. So, it needs owners, individuals and corporates that will invest."
Currently, the English FA is considering expanding the lower tiers of the women's football pyramid to incentivize development and professionalization at the club level.
