Texas stunned No. 1 Oklahoma on Saturday, downing the Sooners 4-2 to hand the team their first loss of the season.

Heading into Saturday night Oklahoma had posted an NCAA-record 38-0 start to the year, preserving a 40-game win streak that started at the end of last season.

Hailey Dolcini was the key for the Longhorns, holding the Sooners scoreless through six innings while giving up just two hits. Throwing three strikeouts, Dolcini managed to quiet the most offensively productive team in college softball, a rare feat.

Oklahoma eventually got on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning with Kinzie Hansen’s two-run homer. The two runs, however, weren’t enough to overcome Texas’ lead established by a Mary Iakopo single in the fifth inning and Mia Scott’s three-RBI double in the sixth.

Saturday’s victory marks the Longhorns’ first win over Oklahoma in 23 games, dating back to 2014.
