Report: NWSL will expand to San Francisco, Utah and Boston
Utah will be rejoining the league.
Trinity Rodman made an impression in her first appearance for the United States women’s national team at a major tournament, scoring her second career goal in Thursday’s 5-0 win over Jamaica at the Conacaf W Championship.
With her finish in the 86th minute, the 20-year-old became the youngest USWNT scorer in World Cup or Olympic qualifying since 2008.

After coming into the game as a late substitution, Rodman ran onto a cross from Mallory Pugh with four minutes left in regulation to put the finishing touches on the 5-0 win. The forward entered the match in the 60th minute, replacing Ashley Hatch at the No. 9 position.
The reigning NWSL Rookie of the Year is considered a key part of the USWNT’s present and future, but head coach Vlatko Andonovski has been intentional about working her slowly into the national team system.
Rodman made her international debut in February during the USWNT’s match against the Czech Republic. In May, she topped ESPN’s global ranking of the 21 best women’s soccer players 21 and under.
With Rodman’s help, the USWNT is well on its way to clinching the top spot in Group A and earning a World Cup berth. After shutting out Haiti and Jamaica, the U.S. closes out the group stage Monday against Mexico.
