Crystal Dunn says the U.S women’s national team has more to give as they prepare for their Olympic quarterfinals showdown with the Netherlands.
“We’ve barely scratched the surface of what we can do at this tournament,” said Dunn during a pregame press conference on Wednesday.
The USWNT is gearing up for a win-or-go-home game on Friday after a shaky group stage showing.
“For us, it’s about the long game. These tournaments are a marathon, not a sprint,” Dunn said, alluding to the team’s Group G outing.
Teammate Christen Press echoed Dunn’s sentiment, stating that “the team is really hungry.”
“The group stage has left us feeling like we have more to give. And I think that’s a great thing, it’s a powerful thing, and it’s intimidating.”
Looking forward, Press says the team needs to be “relentless and lethal.”
“We have a way that we play, we have a way that we score goals and it’s been successful for years.”
Kick-off for Friday’s USWNT and Netherlands quarterfinal starts at 7:00 am ET on NBCSN.
