Bio: From Hampton, Georgia, Matthews played collegiate soccer at Vanderbilt University where she was named to the First Team All-SEC. After successful freshman and sophomore seasons, Matthews transferred to Florida State University and helped the Seminoles win their first NCAA National Championship in 2014.

Matthews was drafted in the first round of the 2016 NWSL College Draft by the Washington Spirit. During her rookie season, Matthews played in 17 games and scored three goals – helping the team to make its first ever NWSL Championship appearance. Before the 2020 season, it was announced that Matthews would take a paid leave of absence to focus on her family.

In 2019, Matthews made her international debut playing for the Jamaica Women’s National Team in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. This was a historic year for the Jamaican National Team who qualified for the first time in the World Cup.
