Bio: Born in Mississauga, Ontario, Matheson played soccer at Princeton University where she was voted Ivy League Player of the Year in 2007 and Princeton Women’s Athlete of the Year in 2008. In 2008, Matheson joined Team Strømmen in Oslo, Norway. As part of the NWSL Player Allocation is 2013, Matheson signed with the Washington Spirit. After being traded to the Seattle Reign in 2017, Matheson missed the entire 2017 season due to an ACL injury. Matheson was traded to the Utah Royals in 2018 where she continues to play. In 2019, she had to sit out the season due to a foot injury.

Matheson has represented Canada since 2003, playing in three FIFA World Cup Tournaments and three Olympic games for the country. She helped lead the Canadian Women’s National Team to two consecutive bronze medals in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic games. In 2011, Matheson helped Canada win the gold medal at the Pan American Games against the defending champions, Brazil.
