Bio: Raised in Upland, California, Barnes attended Upland High School where she was a four-time first team All-CIF selection. She was rated as the number two overall recruit in the country by both RISE Magazine and Soccer Buzz. During her collegiate career, Barnes played for the UCLA Bruins. In her senior year, she led the defense as they allowed less than one goal a game (0.84) and she ranked second on the team in scoring with 16 points.

Barnes was selected fifteenth overall in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Philadelphia Independence. In her rookie season, Barnes helped the Independence advance to the WPS Final where they were defeated by the Western New York Flash. The Seattle Reign FC selected Barnes in 2013 after the WPS folded. In 2014, Barnes joined the Melbourne Victory team on loan from the Reign and, in 2016, she signed with Melbourne City on loan. Beyond her club career, Barnes has represented the United States at the under-15, under-20, and under-23 levels. In 2016, she received her first call up to the USWNT for the SheBelieves Cup.
