Bio: Raised in Walnut Creek, California, Ionescu attended Miramonte High School where she was named USA Today Girls Basketball Player of the Year, Max Preps Player of the Year and Gatorade State Player of the Year. She left high school with a win-loss record of 119-9 and a school record 2,606 points scored. Ranked as the No. 1 point guard and No. 4 overall recruit, Ionescu committed to play at the University of Oregon.

During her collegiate career, Ionescu earned a number of honors including Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, First Team All-American, winner of the Nancy Lieberman Award and winner of the John R. Wooden Award. Ionescu broke numerous records while at Oregon including the NCAA triple-double record for both men and women’s basketball, and Gary Payton’s Pac-12 all-time record of 938 assists. Ionescu became the first NCAA player ever with 2,000 points, 1,000 assists and 1,000 rebounds in a career. In 2020, Ionescu was drafted first overall by the New York Liberty in the WNBA Draft.
