The New York Liberty are in the playoffs for the first time since 2017, thanks to losses from the Washington Mystics and Los Angeles Sparks.

The Dallas Wings defeated Los Angeles 87-84, knocking the Sparks out of playoff contention. The Liberty subsequently took the 8th seed, advancing to the postseason after waiting out Sunday’s WNBA action.

Though there were no playoff implications for the Wings, the team was still committed to finishing the regular season strong.  Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas in points with 20, shooting 63.6 percent from the field and 4-for-6 from deep. Isabelle Harrison added 14 points, shooting a perfect 7-for-7 from the field.

Next up: The Liberty will face off against the Phoenix Mercury in a single-elimination game on Sept. 23 at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
