After yet another win for undefeated No. 3 LSU women’s basketball — the Tigers’ 21st in a row to start the season — Angel Reese did not want to hear any criticism of coach Kim Mulkey.
“I love Kim Mulkey,” Reese wrote Tuesday morning. “If you have a problem with that, BLOCK ME. PERIOD.”

The sophomore forward has unlocked her potential in her first season playing for Mulkey. Since transferring from Maryland in the offseason, Reese has posted a double-double in every game for LSU.
Her 21st consecutive double-double came in Monday’s 76-68 win against SEC rival Tennessee (16-8). Reese had just four points and four rebounds at halftime, but she finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds thanks to a second-half surge.
When Reese discussed her decision to transfer to LSU with Just Women’s Sports, she cited Mulkey as a deciding factor.
“When I came here, I just fell in love with everything — the environment, the people, everything that Coach Mulkey did in one year,” Reese says. “My development, where she had me as a plan for the next two to three years, all of that was set up for me so I was just like, yeah, this is the perfect place for me.”
She also appreciated Mulkey’s willingness to provide tough love.
“She’s gonna keep it real with me. She’s never told me a lie. She’s always kept it real with me,” Reese said. “That’s something that I love. She’s really, really competitive. Like, super competitive.”

While Reese, Mulkey and the Tigers were met with skepticism early in the season due to the lack of ranked opponents on their schedule, they have responded with dominant performance after dominant performance.
Their biggest test of the season, though, comes in two weeks. LSU visits the only other remaining undefeated team in Division I — No. 1 South Carolina (21-0) — on Feb. 12.
