Mirra Andreeva made quick work of Daria Snigur at the 2026 China Open on Tuesday, scoring a 6-2, 6-2 straight-sets win in just over an hour to reach the quarterfinals in Beijing.
Andreeva Confidently Handles Snigur to Reach Quarterfinals
The No. 4 seed fired six aces, tallying 18 winners against 15 unforced errors and breaking Snigur five times while dropping serve only once. The win gives Andreeva her 48th of the season, trailing only Jessica Pegula (50) and Elena Rybakina (49). It also marks her 11th quarterfinal appearance of 2026.
"I think today I was serving well," Andreeva said after the match. "I also think that I was defending well because she's a very aggressive player."
While Andreeva scored an expected victory, an upset on the other side of the WTA draw made her path forward a lot more interesting.
Alexandrova Makes History, Sets Up Andreeva Rematch
No. 19 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova posted an identical 6-2, 6-2 win over Wimbledon champ Linda Nosková. At 31, Alexandrova is the oldest first-time Beijing quarterfinalist in tournament history.
Her sets up a quarterfinal clash with Andreeva where she holds a 2-0 head-to-head edge from wins in Stuttgart and Bad Homburg.
"It's a nice statistic, but it's better not to think about it," Alexandrova said of their record. "We played a couple times. Every match you would play, it's different. Every time is a different condition. It's going to be difficult, for sure."
