Caitlin Clark continued her stellar season Monday as No. 10 Iowa handed No. 2 Ohio State its first loss.
The junior led Iowa with 28 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds in the 83-72 upset victory – the eighth triple-double of her college career. She moved into a tie for third for the most triple-doubles in Division I women’s basketball history, behind just Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu (26) and Lamar’s Chastadie Barrs (9).
In posting a triple-double against a No. 2-ranked team, she joined Dwyane Wade as the only players in men’s or women’s Division I history with a triple-double against a top-two opponent since 1999-2000.

She has four triple-doubles with 25 or more points, which is the most in D-I history, according to ESPN. She’s also the only D-I player in the past 20 seasons to have four straight games of at least 20 points and 10 assists.
“I think it’s meaningful, and when I’m able to do that, it puts my team in a really good position to win,” Clark said of her triple-double. “That’s just kind of what I pride myself in, being able to do a lot of different things on the basketball court for my team. I think it makes me really versatile, hard to guard.”
For the Hawkeyes, the win marks the highest-ranked win they’ve had under Lisa Bluder, who took the helm in 2000. The last time Iowa beat a team ranked in the top two came in 1994 against then-No. 2 Penn State.
And Clark was not the only Iowa player to contribute. Monika Czinano had 22 points on 11-of-13 shooting, and Kate Martin (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Hannah Stuelke (eight points, 13 rebounds) proved key as well.
“We had some really great performances,” Bluder said. “Great assists by our team — 24 on 31 baskets. That’s really fun basketball. Caitlin has a triple-double; what can that girl not do? They all did a great job. This is a big win.”
