About the team: The content team is made up of four departments: Social, Design, Production, and Editorial. Social sits at the intersection of nearly all the content departments, as it is our largest distribution point and all original content runs through it. Content is the heart of JWS’ creativity and responsible for growing audience, as well as building community amongst the women’s sports community, and sports fandoms at large.
About the role: JWS is looking for a Senior Social Media Manager to grow JWS’ social channels, engage the community and build the brand post by post. The Sr. Manager’s job is to set strategies for each platform and execute. That requires working with JWS social programmers, setting social processes for sourcing and creating content, ideating on social first content series, effectively distributing longer form original content and working cross-company to ensure that JWS’ social arm is serving the company’s larger mission.
Your responsibilities:
- Setting the tone, look and feel of JWS’ original content across all social platforms and engaging and building the online community
- Meeting / strategizing with leaders from other business units to align goals and ensure support
- Helping set overall strategy across all social channels to ensure effective distribution of original content
- Ideating on sold campaigns, original social first content series, and innovative ways to package and distribute original content
- Signing off on high impact text, graphic, video and multi-media content offerings
- News and social media monitoring
- Swift editorial response and decision making
- Managing staff of junior social programmers
- Playing an integral part of the hiring and onboarding of new employees
- Provides guidance for resource allocation and needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 4 - 6 years of professional sports media, social media, journalism or marketing experience
- High level social/mobile media understanding. Candidate should have high proficiency using X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, and YouTube Shorts
- Possess strong writing and communication skills
- Editing skills/experience is ideal; formal editing background is not required but a keen eye for detail is important
- Candidate should be familiar with basic photo editing and a working or advanced knowledge of Photoshop is not essential but definitely beneficial
- Experience in video production / editing is a major plus
- This role requires working regular nights and weekends
- Available to travel 3-4x a year
