Christine Sinclair would like Portland’s postponed match against the Washington Spirit to be ruled a forfeit.

The NWSL announced Saturday that the Spirit’s game against OL Reign would be canceled, awarding OL Reign three points in the league standings. The decision was made after Washington was determined to have breached the NWSL’s medical protocols.

Sinclair wrote on Twitter that she’d like the same to happen for the Thorns, whose Sept. 4 game against the Spirit was postponed after four Washington players tested positive for COVID-19. The NWSL has yet to announce any details regarding a makeup date for the postponed contest.

The league has not said whether forfeit was considered in the Thorns-Spirit matchup.
