Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger are ready to win after being traded to NJ/NY Gotham FC from the Orlando Pride
“We are so thrilled to be here,” Krieger said Wednesday. “We want to win an NWSL Championship.”
But that isn’t the entire reason the couple was motivated to move. Krieger revealed that part of it was to help the couple’s daughter, Sloane, see and experience more diversity and “more people like us.”
When speaking on those that made an impact during their time with the Pride, Krieger pointed to Sydney Leroux.
“We’re grateful,” she said. “We’re so lucky to have such incredible people brought into our lives.”
Still, the hunger to win appears to be matched by those at Gotham FC, with the star couple noting that recently-appointed permanent GM Yael Averbuch West made them“feel wanted and needed.”
“We want to be in an environment that has like-minded individuals [where] we know we’ll be taken care of and valued every day,” Krieger said. “We also want to win an NWSL championship. This type of change could be super healthy.”
“We have a young, hungry team,” West added. “It’s a gritty group. We have high aspirations. We want to win an NWSL championship, whether it happens this year or in a couple years.”
