Harriet Dart Battles Back to Beat Janice Tjen, Books Quarterfinals
The match kicked off with Dart and Tjen trading sets before the Brit managed to pull away in the third.
Dart broke twice early to build a 3-0 cushion, then leaned on her serve to protect it. She landed seven aces and fought off six of nine break points along the way. Tjen tried to drag her off the baseline with trips to the net, but Dart’s groundstrokes stayed steady when it counted. It was the Brit's third three-set win of the Asian swing tournament so far.
Dart Continues Guangzhou Open Run Against Paula Badosa
Earlier in the day, fifth-seeded Spaniard Paula Badosa scored a quick 6-1, 6-4 win against Austrian Sinja Kraus. She now awaits Dart in the quarterfinals, in a matchup that will test the Brit's aggressive baseline game against the Spaniard's all-court approach.
For Dart, advancing this deep in the tournament matches her best Guangzhou result from 2023.
