Chelsea Gray tied a WNBA record with nine three-pointers Thursday, leading the Las Vegas Aces past the Portland Fire 105-89. She finished with 29 points on 9-of-13 shooting from deep, picking apart Portland's perimeter defense throughout the night.
A'ja Wilson Extends WNBA Scoring Lead With Aces Frontline
Gray had help from WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson, who was just as dominant in the paint, posting 32 points.
After halftime, she scored 14 of the team's first 16 third-quarter points to put the game out of reach. Along the way, Wilson moved up on the WNBA's all-time scoring and rebounding lists.
Beyond the two stars, Aces guard Jackie Young nearly posted a triple-double with 18 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. NaLyssa Smith also recorded a double-double, logging 12 points and 10 rebounds to help Las Vegas control the glass.
The Portland Fire fought hard early, trailing by just six points at halftime. However, the Aces' offense proved impossible to overcome down the stretch.
