Alexandra Eala wrapped up a 75-minute first round win at the 2026 Pan Pacific Open on Monday, dispatching teenage wild card Mika Stojsavljevic 6-1, 6-2. The No. 8 seed from the Philippines dictated play from the baseline at WTA tournament in Tokyo, facing just one break point all afternoon.
Alex Eala Ousts Mika Stojsavljevic, Faces Talia Gibson Next
Despite flashing 24 winners, Stojsavljevic couldn't rein in her 41 unforced errors, a lopsided ratio that let Eala decide every major rally.
"I think it was super important today to be focused on every single point," Eala said of her win.
Both players share a US Open girls' junior title, but the 21-year-old's composure proved too steady for the 17-year-old Brit. With the loss, Stojsavljevic is still searching for her first tour-level set win in four main-draw appearances.
Eala, meanwhile, is now readying to face Talia Gibson, who reached last month's Singapore final and opened her own Tokyo campaign with a 6-0, 7-5 upset of former top 10 player Daria Kasatkina.
Should she win that match, Eala will have a fairly open path to the title after the draw lost two top-seeded players. Maja Chwałińska, ranked second, pulled out with a left thigh injury on Monday while reigning titleholder Belinda Bencić bowed out with a right ankle injury.
