Alexandra Eala snapped a two-tournament losing streak on Monday, sweeping Diane Parry 6-3, 6-1 in the opening round of the 2026 Ningbo Open. The 21-year-old needed just 67 minutes to dispatch the French No. 32 and punch her ticket to the Round of 16 at the WTA 500 event in China.

After trading holds through the first half of the opening set, Eala found a breakthrough at 3-3. She broke Parry's serve before rattling off three straight games to pocket the opener.
Eala then carried that run into the second, jumping out to a 4-0 lead with aggressive returns before Parry could stop the bleeding with a lone service hold. Eala finished with a 1.33 winner-to-unforced-error ratio across the match, converting her break-point chances while limiting free points on her own serve.
"I’m very happy with my performance. I think it was a really good, tough first round," Eala said of the win.
The convincing victory is a welcome reset for the world No. 20, who hadn't won a professional match since the US Open in September. Early exits at both the Singapore Tennis Open and the Wuhan Open left her without a win during her Asian swing, until now.
Up next, Eala will face the winner of Yulia Putintseva and No. 13 Diana Shnaider in the second round.
