Alice Powell is taking some time after falling to rival Jamie Chadwick in the W Series Championship on Sunday.

“I gave it my all this weekend with some things not going in our favour,” Powell wrote on Twitter. “It hurts, but I guess it isn’t all bad.”

She also congratulated Chadwick on winning the battle the two have been in all year, calling it “a great fight.”

Powell narrowly lost the W Series title after heading into the weekend’s races in Austin, Texas tied with Chadwick at 109 points apiece. They traded victories throughout the season, with Emma Kimilainen of Finland emerging as the only driver able to knock either of them off the top of the podium.

Chadwick, who also captured the W Series trophy in 2019, won both races over the weekend to defend her title.
