Angel City FC are looking to hire Sean Nahas as their first head coach.
As reported by The Athletic, the North Carolina Courage assistant is sporting director Eniola Aluko’s preferred hire after interviews. As of right now, there is no agreement in place.
Nahas has extensive experience in the youth realm, having directed the Courage’s Girls Development Academy and holding coaching and scouting roles with the U.S. youth national teams.
The potential hiring has raised questions about the pipeline for women head coaches in the NWSL. Right now, there is only one female head coach in the NWSL. That number could increase to two, with San Diego’s Jill Ellis expected to hire Casey Stoney as head coach.
Angel City is set to begin play in 2022.
