Angel Reese's paycheck is about to look very different. After earning an All-WNBA Second Team nod for the 2026 season, the Atlanta Dream forward is now eligible for a supermax deal under the league's 2026 CBA.
Why Is Angel Reese Eligible for a Supermax Now?
The selection triggers what the CBA calls the Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract provision — AKA EPIC. Under those terms, Reese can renegotiate her deal next year and sign a three-year supermax extension with the Dream. It's a path that wasn't available to rookies this early under the former agreement.
But Reese more than deserves the raise.
Her current pay no longer matches the on-court production of the third-year All Star. Reese averaged 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds across her first two WNBA seasons, leading the league in rebounding both years. She's continued that dominance with Atlanta, averaging 16.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per game this season.
Still, her projected 2026 salary sits around $350,692, roughly 5% of the league's $7 million cap.
A WNBA supermax deal would push that figure past $1 million, with salary projections expected to climb another 13% in 2027.
For this year's Defensive Player of the Year who helped carry Atlanta to the WNBA Finals in her first season with the Dream, the pay bump is overdue.
