The loss by Krejcikova marks the first time no former major champion has reached the women’s semifinals at the US Open.
It’s Sabalenka’s second-straight Grand Slam semifinal after she reached the semifinals at Wimbledon.
Sabalaneka will face off against 19-year-old Leylah Fernandez in the semifinal. Fernandez has been making headlines of her own this week after defeating Naomi Osaka and reaching her first career Grand Slam semifinal.
