Professional women’s lacrosse is finally here.
The inaugural Athletes Unlimited lacrosse season will officially launch Friday night with a doubleheader on CBS Sports Network.
The league features 56 of the world’s best lacrosse players competing in a four-week season in the Metro DC area.
CBS Sports Network will serve as Athletes Unlimited’s main television partner for the 2021 lacrosse season. The network will air seven games, including weekly matchups of the league’s top two teams and the championship game on Aug. 22.
Fox Sports is set to pick up 15 games. Any additional games will stream on Athletes Unlimited’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
Each week, the top four players will serve as captains and draft teams from scratch for the following week’s competition. The athletes can earn points for individual stats and team wins per the league’s fantasy-inspired scoring system.
The 2021 lacrosse season roster will include NCAA stars, World Champions, Tewaaraton Award winners and U.S. National Team members.
Kylie Ohlmiller, Angie Benson, Katie O’Donnell and Megan Douty are among the season’s first captains.
Several other big names in the world of lacrosse, including Taylor Cummings and Alex Aust, are also set to compete in the league.
Watch Friday night’s doubleheader at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. ET.
