Viivi Vainikka got on the board first to open up the game, slipping the puck past Swiss goaltender Andrea Braendli midway through the first period.
Things were relatively quiet in the second, with the floodgates opening in the third period. Three-time Olympian Susanna Tapani scored a shorthanded goal, defender Nelli Laitinen converted on the power-play and four-time Olympian Michelle Karvinen also notched one en route to the 4-0 win.
With the win, Finnish players Jenni Hiirikoski and Michelle Karvinen become the most decorated European women’s players at the Olympics in hockey, having each won three medals.
It’s Finland’s second-straight bronze medal after they defeated the Olympic Athletes from Russia at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Previously, Finland had lost in the quarterfinals to the U.S., who will play Canada in the final.
