The IIHF announced today that the 2021 Women’s World Championship, rescheduled for Aug. 20-31, will take place in Alberta, Canada.
It will be Alberta’s first time hosting the event, with Calgary being confirmed as the new host city. The 31-game schedule will be played at WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park. It marks the eighth time Canada has hosted the event.
Originally, the world championships were set to take place in Nova Scotia from May 6-16 but were called off due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases in the region.
This will be the first women’s hockey world championship played since 2019.
