New season, same Candace Parker.

In her hometown team debut, Parker put up 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks.

Parker got things going early for the Sky, scoring 13 points in the first half alone.

Chicago stifled the Mystics’ offense all game, keeping Washington to just 30 points at the half.

Kahleah Copper helped run up the score for the Sky as well, scoring 19 points and banking 8 rebounds.

After extending their lead to 57-40 at the end of the third quarter, the Sky were off the races, cruising to a comfortable 70-56 win.

The Washington Mystics are still missing Elena Delle Donne, who is slowly making her return to team play after undergoing back surgery last year.

The Sky will go on the road again against Atlanta on Wednesday, May 19.

The Mystics will look to redeem themselves in their next game against Phoenix on Tuesday, May 18.
