Former U.S. women’s national team star Carli Lloyd announced Wednesday that she will be making her analyst debut with Fox Sports during Saturday’s friendly against Uzbekistan.

Her move to the booth comes after she says she “hated” playing with the USWNT in recent years while a guest on Hope Solo’s podcast “Hope Solo Speaks.” During the podcast, she said that the culture on the USWNT had changed following the 2015 World Cup.

She said later that she had voiced her criticisms of the culture with her teammates during the Tokyo Olympics.

However Lloyd did tell Insider that she was impressed by the USWNT’s younger players during the SheBelieves Cup in February.

“I saw that drive,” she said. “I saw glimpses of that, and that’s what we need.

“That’s the duty of these younger players, if they’re going to continue to play for this team, is they have to keep sharing that culture and bridging the next several generations with it.”

USWNT coach Vlatko Andonovski has been leaning toward youth in recent roster selections in order to determine who will be a part of the team’s future as the program looks ahead to next year’s World Cup.
