If this was the last time that we’ll see Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe suit up for the USWNT, what a way to watch them go.

The USWNT did not meet expectations in this Olympic tournament, be it outside expectations or their own. But in their final game they looked like the USWNT that fans have come to know and love.

Lloyd and Rapinoe were instrumental in Thursday’s win, as they have been for the past 15 years.

Fittingly, Rapinoe was the one to get things started for the USWNT, scoring off the corner kick.

Then, with the score tied at one, she added another – further cementing her legacy.

Lloyd then got in on the action, capitalizing on what could be her last game for the USWNT.

She then got in on the action once again, scoring another goal to become the USWNT’s leading goal scorer in Olympic history with 10 goals.

“The way you saw us come out an play, that was the U.S. mentality,” Lloyd said after the game.

Lloyd also said that the bus ride to the game was different than in the past. While she knows that she is near the end of her career, no decisions have been made.

“I think that I’ve had a different mindset going into this one,” she said. “I haven’t made any official announcements yet, but obviously I am at the tail end of my career. Physically, I feel really good, but at some point, I have to hang up the boots and live life.”
