Sam Kerr continues to rack up awards, as the Australian star took home the 2022 Women’s Footballer of the Year award from England’s Football Writers’ Association.
Kerr has continued to shine on the pitch for Chelsea this season, helping the club to the brink of its third straight WSL title. In December, she scored twice to seal the 2021 FA Cup title, and she has 18 goals through 19 matches in WSL play this season.
She has been just as good internationally, becoming Australia’s all-time international goal scorer in January.
The award marks her third different league award. She also has won Australia’s Footballer of the Year Award four times – most recently in 2019 – and won the ESPY for Best NWSL Soccer Player in 2019.
She was runner-up for the FIFA Best Women’s Player award in November.
“Every year I strive to be the best player I can be and I think as I get older I appreciate it more,” Kerr told Sky Sports.
