Less than a week after the WNBA draft, the Atlanta Dream have fired president and general manager Chris Sienko.
“The Dream and Chris Sienko have parted ways,” the team said in a statement Wednesday. “We thank Chris for his contributions.”
After coming to the team as general manager in 2017, Sienko was promoted to president the following year. The Dream won a franchise record 23 games in the regular season in 2018, reaching the semifinals in the playoffs. That season, Sienko was named the league’s Executive of the Year.
The two seasons since have been a different story, as the Dream have gone 15-41.
Atlanta also went through a highly publicized ownership change in February, following pressure on former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler to sell her ownership stake in the team.
Prior to joining Atlanta, Sienko served as vice president, chief operating officer and GM of the Connecticut Sun for 14 seasons, helping them become the first profitable team in WNBA history.
