Rhyne Howard needed just one half to decide Thursday's Dream vs Sun matchup. The five-year guard scored 23 first-half points on 5-of-7 shooting, leading Atlanta to a 104-69 road win over Connecticut.
That early surge also earned Howard a spot in the WNBA record books. According to ESPN Insights, no player had ever entered the break with more points on seven or fewer field goal attempts.
"Rhyne Howard's 23 points on 5-7 FG in the first half are the most points entering halftime by any player who attempted 7 or fewer FG in WNBA history," ESPN posted following the 2026 All-Star's feat.
Rhyne Howard Sparks Atlanta Dream Offense
Howard closed with 29 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block, shooting 5-of-8 from deep and 10-of-11 at the line.
Allisha Gray matched her scoring output with 29 points of her own. Angel Reese, meanwhile, pulled down 15 rebounds to set an Atlanta single-season franchise record at 375 boards through 32 games.
The win pushed the Dream to 21-12, keeping them atop the Eastern Conference, ahead of Indiana and Washington.
