Team Dempsey clinched the PHF All-Star Showcase on Saturday, defeating Team Thunstrom 5-1 in the weekend’s final game.
Toronto Six goaltender Elaine Chuli earned All-Star MVP honors after holding Team Thunstrom to just one shootout goal. Team Dempsey, coached by Sami Jo Small, took home the title after a round-robin competition that included three All-Star teams playing two games. The contests consisted of 10 minutes of 5v5 followed by 5 minutes of 3v3 and a shootout.

After Connecticut Whale forward Kennedy Marchment got Team Dempsey on the board first, teammate Tori Howran quickly doubled their lead. Howran later added to Team Dempsey’s advantage, scoring their first shootout point. Boston Pride forward McKenna Brand got on the scoresheet as well, scoring a top-shelf goal in the shootout to energize the Buffalo crowd.
Team Thunstrom’s lone goal came from a Amanda Boullier slap shot in the shootout, spoiling Team Dempsey’s shutout chances.
With the final win, Team Dempsey’s Taylor Accursi, Brand, Chuli, Jillian Dempsey, Kaleigh Fratkin, Howran, Dominique Kremer, Autumn MacDougall, Marchment, Cassidy Vinkle, Emma Vlasic and Taylor Woods were crowned 2022 PHF All-Star champions.
