Elaine Thompson-Herah continued her 100-meter dominance Saturday, taking first place at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.
The reigning Olympic champion crossed the line at 10.79 seconds, a season-best for the Jamaican star.

American Sha’Carri Richardson followed Thompson-Herah in second, clocking a time of 10.92 seconds to edge out Olympic bronze medalist Shericka Jackson. The race marks an impressive return to form for the 22-year-old, who finished ninth in the 2021 Prefontaine Classic.
Richardson qualified for the Tokyo Olympics with a time of 10.86 seconds in the 100m dash before receiving a one-month ban from the sport for testing positive for marijuana, forcing her to skip the Summer Games.
Richardson’s time is a promising sign ahead of June’s USTAF Championships, which will be held on the same track in Eugene, Oregon.
