Nebraska crashes party as NCAA Volleyball heads to Final Four

There are four teams remaining in the Division I Women’s Volleyball Tournament after a thrilling series of regional final matches on Saturday night.

No. 1 Louisville, No. 3 Pittsburgh, No. 4 Wisconsin and No. 10 Nebraska all survived their quarterfinal contests to advance to the Final Four in Columbus, Ohio next Thursday. Here is how the action unfolded over the weekend.

No. 10 Nebraska 3, No. 2 Texas 1

In the biggest Elite Eight upset, No. 10 Nebraska bounced No. 2 Texas 3-1. Ally Batenhorst and Lindsay Krause led the charge for Nebraska, registering 15 and 13 kills, respectively. Keonilei Akana also helped the Huskers from the service line, recording seven aces to lift Nebraska over the Longhorns.

No. 4 Wisconsin 3, No. 12 Minnesota 0

No. 4 Wisconsin swept No. 12 Minnesota to advance to the semifinals for the third straight year. Dana Rettke was dominant for the Badgers, tallying 15 kills on a .520 hitting average. As a team, Wisconsin recorded seven service aces and ten blocks to cruise past the Gophers.

No. 3 Pittsburgh 3, No. 6 Purdue 1

No. 3 Pittsburgh clinched a four-set victory over No. 6 Purdue to advance to the first national semifinals in program history. Leketor Member-Meneh was dominant all over the floor, recording 21 kills on a .383 hitting average, nine digs and three aces.

No. 1 Louisville 3, No. 8 Georgia Tech 1

No. 1 Louisville improved to 32-0 on the season after defeating No. 8 Georgia Tech 3-1 on Saturday. Claire Chausse notched 18 kills on .348 hitting, while Anna Debeer had 14 kills for the Cardinals. Louisville recorded 17 blocks as a team to hold off Georgia Tech and stay perfect heading into the Final Four.
