Houston Dash head coach James Clarkson has confirmed that defender Abby Dahlkemper’s move to the Dash is a loan, despite it initially being reported as a trade.
Clarkson said that Dahlkemper’s rights will return to the Courage following the conclusion of the season.
I asked James Clarkson to clarify calling Dahlkemper's move to the Houston Dash a "loan" although it was announced as a trade. Clarkson says explicitly Dahlkemper's rights will go back to the Courage at the end of the season. #NWSL— Steph Yang | Horrible Soccer Goose (@thrace) August 31, 2021

The clarification comes following comments by Courage head coach Paul Riley that Dahlkemper was out on loan.
Riley also disclosed that Dahlkemper will still leave the Courage following the conclusion of the season, leading some to believe that the defender is going to be left on the table for December’s expansion draft.
