Caitlin Clark declared for the 2024 WNBA draft on Thursday, bringing about a flurry of reactions across the basketball landscape and beyond.
Some of the best reactions, however, came from the Indiana Fever and its players. Clark is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, which Indiana currently holds.
Soon after the announcement, the Fever tweeted out “No. 1” before later posting a link to buy season tickets. They then reiterated the fact that they have the No. 1 pick with a graphic, reminding fans that there are just 46 days to the draft.

Longtime Fever star and former coach Tamika Catchings, who helped the team to the WNBA championship in 2012, welcomed Clark to Indianapolis – as if there was any doubt as to who the Fever would be picking.

Aliyah Boston was in a hair appointment when the news broke, noting that people were “hilarious” for blowing up her phone. There’s a lot of anticipation around the idea of Clark and Boston playing together in Indiana, with Boston being the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year and a former college national player of the year herself.
“It’s the way I’m here prepping for my next braid color and my Twitter start blowing up,” she wrote. “Yall are hilarious.”
Lexie Brown, who plays for the Los Angeles Sparks, noted that the decision to announce now was a big one. Many players are waiting to announce their decisions until after their seasons are concluded.
“Declaring BEFORE March Madness is tough,” she wrote.
Tennis legend Billie Jean King also offered up her congratulations.
